Cleveland State University Occupational Therapy


MOT 1The Cleveland State University (CSU) Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) Program welcomes your interest in our academic program. Occupational Therapists (OT) use everyday activities as the means to enable people to thrive, moving beyond disabilities or limitations, creating opportunities to maximize participation in life. If you feel satisfaction from and enjoy helping others achieve competence, meaning, and self-fulfillment in their daily lives, then occupational therapy may be an excellent career choice for you With anticipated growth of up to 29% between 2012 and 2022, the field of Occupational Therapy has been ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top health care careers of 2015.

A program in the School of Health Sciences, within the College of Sciences and Health Professions, the Occupational Therapy Program recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of the admission of its first Bachelor’s degree class in 1974.MOT 2 The program moved into its current home in the Health Sciences Building in 1998, and transitioned to a graduate Master of Occupational Therapy degree in 2002.

Graduates of the CSU MOT Program will be prepared to work in both medical and community-based settings, and assume diverse roles in clinical practice, consultation, teaching, management, research, and advocacy. The curriculum is designed using an adult learning model, integrating didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences through seven consecutive semesters. Interprofessional education is highly valued and is emphasized throughout the curriculum. The experienced faculty provide high quality instruction and learning opportunities, preparing graduates to become skilled practitioners and lifelong learners.
