What to do in Downtown Cleveland?

CLEVELAND– “All In” while we “Rally Together.”

Downtown Cleveland will host one gigantic party next week, celebrating two sports milestones on the same day.

That means a lot of people, traffic and plenty of business for downtown bars and restaurants.

“Tuesday is gonna be amazing, ” predicted Cleveland sports fan Craig King.

A constant rain kept patrons away from the outdoor patios on East 4th Street Thursday afternoon. But it’s guaranteed nothing will keep Cleveland sports fans away from downtown this Tuesday.

“It’s gonna be crowded down here, but I hope ya’ll come down here. I’m excited, I know everybody else is excited, ” Jason Kelly said.

Once-starved sports fans in Northeast Ohio are now hungry for another trophy. Tuesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers open a new season accepting their NBA championship rings, while the championship banner is raised inside Quicken Loans Arena. Next door, the Indians will play Game 1 of their first World Series in 19 years.

“I’m only 22 years old and I’ve always heard that we like, you know, a curse or this and that, we can’t get ahead and become champions. And look at the Cavs, now we did it and now the Indians are making history, ” King said.

“I expect to be swamped. We will be very busy, ” said Rick Cassara, a manager at Pickwick and Frolic on East 4th.

He said they are already rearranging employee schedules, and preparing for basketball and baseball fans in the restaurant and comedy club.

“We’ll have the game on in there, during the game, so it’ll be on Hilarities with a 10-foot screen. We’ll have another screen in the Cabaret, we’ll be showing the basketball game. Our martini bar will be open in addition to our bar up here, ” Cassara said.

With tons of people downtown, that means there will be limited parking. A spokesman for the city said leaders are working with the police department, the teams and other organizations to come up with a plan for parking and street restrictions.
