BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Angee Shaker, director of communications and community engagement for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights schools, will resign for a job with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

"A really neat opportunity came along, " Shaker said Thursday. "It will be challenging but exciting. It's hard to let go but I'm very proud to be part of the CMSD team."

Shaker has been communications director in Cleveland Heights-University Heights for six years. She helped redesign the district's website, designed and created electronic newsletters for the district and each school and developed a crisis communication plan. She and her staff won an awards this year from the National School Public Relations Association.

Cleveland Heights-University Heights Superintendent Talisa Dixon said Shaker also coordinated the district's strategic planning process, which involved more than 1, 800 students, families, district workers and community members.

Previously, Shaker was vice president of education and workforce development for the Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce, and was a news anchor at WYTV in Youngstown and WTOV in Steubenville.
