Cleveland Elementary School Clayton NC

My name is Sharon Johnson, and I am excited to be Neuse Charter’s Principal. I am a lifelong Johnston Country resident and was born on July 21, 1967 in Smithfield, NC at Johnston Memorial Hospital. I attended Cleveland Elementary from K- 8th grade and graduated from South Johnston High School in 1985. In 1989, I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) and then taught at School Street School in Goldsboro, NC for two years before returning to Johnston County schools to continue my teaching career. I obtained my Master’s in Elementary Education from Campbell University in 1994 and National Board Certification in 1996. I taught 4th and 5th grades at the following schools: Clayton Elementary, East Clayton Elementary, Cleveland Elementary and Polenta. In 2007, after 18 years of teaching, I moved into an Administrative position and in 2008 graduated from N.C. State University with my second Master’s degree, this time in School Administration. I was an Assistant Principal for 4 years at Polenta Elementary, Principal for 3 years at Powhatan Elementary, and now am in my third year as Principal at Neuse Charter School.

I grew up on a farm in the Cleveland Community and now live in the same area. I have a beautiful 17 year old daughter that blesses my life every day and a 7 year old Yorkie-poo dog that keeps life interesting for both of us. My life has been dedicated to the education of children in Johnston County and creating a desire within each child to reach their maximum potential and never stop learning.
