Best zoo ever.
We traveled 5 hours from home (Louisville) to visit this zoo. We have a home zoo and it doesn't touch this zoo at all. From walking next to and being able to pet flamingos, having the zoo divided into regions and easy terrain to walk, this zoo has it all. It is so enormous, that even on the most crowded day, the waits are not bad at all and there are plenty of cool, shaded, clean outdoor areas to eat and rest. The kangaroo exhibit allows you to be up close and personal with only a rope separating you and the kangaroos and the safari land is exquisite to view. If you didn't know better, you'd swear you were in Africa. This place is a monkey lovers dream. With more types and quantities of monkeys, there is no lack of males, females and plenty of babies to observe. There is also a water park and rides to partake in, but plan one entire day for the zoo itself. It took 6 hours to comfortably walk, which included plenty of time for rests, snacks and potty breaks. We'll be coming back soon!By: davism241 | 5 / 5 | 2 years ago
the Columbus Zoo is a great zoo. I love all of these exhibits especially monkeys and apes and bears and lions/tigers although we could use a little more tigers or allow him to have more room to move about instead of just the glass one for vistors to see. love the penguins and mantee and why not go ahead and get a shark or two as well as gorgeous fish with live coral - i may have missed this during my last trip. Snakes and unique insects is very interesting as well. ThanksBy: Kerry Ragsdale | 5 / 5 | 3 years ago
As real zoo lovers...we go to zoos where ever we visit. We have been to zoos from San Diego, St, Louis, both Chicago area zoos, Indy, Cleveland and Cincy, Louisville, Tampa, and Miami/ Ft Lauderdale..lots of zoos. For us, all are nice, but Columbus blows them away over all. It is huge and yet very easy to get around in. Some zoos are very tiring to walk...not Columbus. The terrain is easy to cover. The landscaping and animal exhibits are beautiful. The zoo is divided into world regions and it has a "Disney" quality of entering different continents.
The variety of animals is huge, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a lot of activities for everyone. There is also a very large water park that is part of the zoo, It can be a "package" price, but we did not do the water park. We love this zoo!!! It is a jewel in the Columbus Crown! And it even has Jack Hanna as it's curator!
I live in Michigan, I find the Columbus Zoo outstanding. I like it so much I became a member, even though I live 3.5 hours away.Great place to take family and friends.
